As a Dental Assistant for Surgery & Hygiene Support, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dental surgeries and the comfort of our patients. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists and hygienists chairside during a wide range of dental procedures, including surgical extractions, implant placements, restorative work, and hygiene treatments.
  • Prepare and maintain dental instruments and equipment, ensuring strict adherence to decontamination and sterilisation protocols.
  • Manage and maintain accurate patient records, including dental charting, treatment plans, and medical histories, using our practice management software.
  • Provide clear pre- and post-operative instructions and reassure patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout their visit.
  • Manage stock control, ordering, and maintaining adequate supplies for clinical use, including surgical instruments and materials.
  • Process dental X-rays (intraoral and panoramic) and assist with digital impressions as required.
  • Support the front desk team occasionally with administrative tasks, scheduling, and patient communications.
  • Actively participate in practice meetings and continuous professional development (CPD) to enhance skills and knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Dental Nurse with a recognised qualification (e.g., NEBDN Diploma in Dental Nursing or equivalent).
  • Current registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in a general dental practice, with exposure to surgical and hygiene support.
  • Excellent understanding and practical application of cross-infection control and health & safety regulations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centric approach.
  • Proficiency in dental practice management software (e.g., SOE Exact, Dentally, or similar).
  • Highly organised, meticulous, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Radiography qualification.
  • Experience with sedation nursing.
  • Additional certifications in advanced dental assisting procedures.
  • First Aid certified.
