Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility.
  • Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and report changes to nursing staff.
  • Help patients with ambulation, transfers, and positioning, ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a caring and respectful environment.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe patient environment, including changing linens and tidying rooms.
  • Assist with intake and output measurements, specimen collection, and other basic medical procedures as directed.
  • Document patient care activities, observations, and vital signs accurately and promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Participate in care planning and team meetings to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Required Skills

  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA), Personal Support Worker (PSW), or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and compassion.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
  • Basic computer literacy for documentation.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in diverse healthcare settings (e.g., long-term care, acute care, home care).
  • Familiarity with Canadian healthcare standards and practices.
