Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of alterations including hemming, resizing, tapering, and adjustments to sleeves, waistbands, and shoulders on various garment types (dresses, suits, trousers, skirts, coats, etc.).
- Conduct fittings with clients to accurately assess alteration requirements and provide professional advice on garment adjustments.
- Repair and mend damaged garments, ensuring original appearance and structural integrity are maintained.
- Operate and maintain a range of industrial and domestic sewing machines, overlockers, and other tailoring equipment.
- Manage workflow efficiently, ensuring timely completion of projects while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Select appropriate threads, fabrics, and embellishments for repairs and alterations.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing client queries and concerns professionally.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in garment alterations and stitching.
- Expert knowledge of various sewing techniques and garment construction.
- Proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines and related equipment.
- Strong understanding of different fabric types and their handling.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in all tasks.
- Ability to accurately measure and mark garments.
