Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Security Engineer to join our growing team in St. James Town, Toronto. In this professional role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing our robust network security infrastructure. You will be at the forefront of protecting our digital assets against evolving cyber threats, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our critical systems and data. As a key member of our cybersecurity team, you will collaborate closely with IT operations, software development, and other business units to integrate security best practices into all phases of our technological development and deployment. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain advanced network security solutions including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, proxies, and DDoS mitigation systems.
  • Monitor network security for anomalies, investigate and respond to security incidents, and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Perform regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to identify and remediate weaknesses.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures in compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Configure and manage security information and event management (SIEM) systems for comprehensive logging and threat detection.
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to ensure secure network architecture and application deployment.
  • Stay current with the latest security threats, trends, and technologies to continuously improve our security posture.
  • Provide expert guidance and support on network security matters to internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for critical security incidents and support.
  • Document network security configurations, processes, and incident response procedures.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in network security engineering.
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network protocols.
  • Expertise with various security technologies (Firewalls – Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco; IDS/IPS, VPNs, WAFs).
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001) and compliance requirements (PCI DSS, GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Proficiency in security monitoring tools, SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar), and incident response procedures.
  • Experience with vulnerability management tools (e.g., Tenable, Qualys) and penetration testing methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications such as CCIE Security, CCNP Security, CISSP, CEH, or GIAC certifications.
  • Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container security.
  • Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell) for automation of security tasks.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry (e.g., finance, healthcare).
