Job Description

Hiring.zycto is on the lookout for a passionate and ambitious Junior Product Designer to join our dynamic team in Barton Hill, Bristol. This entry-level role is an exceptional opportunity for an individual with foundational design knowledge and a burning desire to grow within the product design field. As a Junior Product Designer, you will play a crucial supporting role in various stages of our product development lifecycle, working closely with senior designers, product managers, and engineers. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior product designers in conducting user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to gather insights.
  • Contribute to the creation of wireframes, user flows, mockups, and prototypes that clearly communicate design ideas and user interactions.
  • Participate in design critiques and team brainstorming sessions, offering fresh perspectives and actively learning from feedback.
  • Help maintain and evolve our design system, ensuring consistency and efficiency across all products.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into intuitive user experiences.
  • Prepare design specifications and assets for development teams, ensuring clear communication of design intent.
  • Stay updated with the latest UX/UI trends, tools, and best practices, continuously seeking opportunities for professional growth.

Required Skills

  • Foundational understanding of user-centred design (UCD) principles and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
  • Basic knowledge of information architecture and interaction design principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts.
  • A keen eye for detail and a passion for creating aesthetically pleasing and functional designs.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Basic problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.
  • A portfolio demonstrating academic projects, personal projects, or internships in UI/UX design.
  • Understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS) to better communicate with engineers.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development processes.
  • Experience with user testing and feedback iteration.
