This pivotal role calls for an individual who can not only articulate a compelling design vision but also inspire and lead a talented team to execute it with excellence across all platforms.

As the Head of Design – Creative, you will be instrumental in shaping the visual identity and aesthetic narrative of the AGO. This role demands a strategic thinker with impeccable taste, a deep understanding of design principles, and the ability to translate complex artistic concepts into accessible and engaging visual communications. You will work collaboratively with various departments, including curatorial, marketing, digital, and visitor experience teams, ensuring brand consistency and creative excellence in every initiative.

Your leadership will extend beyond project management; you will mentor and empower a team of designers, fostering an environment of creativity, growth, and high performance. You will be a champion for innovative design solutions, constantly seeking opportunities to elevate the AGO’s brand presence and engage diverse audiences. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a proven track record of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-profile environment. Join us in shaping the future of visual storytelling at the Art Gallery of Ontario, contributing to a legacy of artistic expression and cultural impact.

  • Collaborate strategically with curatorial, marketing, digital, visitor experience, and other departments to translate their objectives into compelling design solutions.
  • Manage design project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to deliver high-quality results on schedule.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices in design, art, and cultural marketing to continually enhance the AGO's visual presence.
  • Present design concepts and strategies to stakeholders, articulating the rationale and impact of creative decisions.
