Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the overnight warehouse team, ensuring optimal performance, productivity, and adherence to company policies.
- Oversee all night-shift operations including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and dispatch of goods.
- Conduct daily briefings, allocate tasks, and monitor workload distribution to meet strict deadlines and targets.
- Implement and enforce health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
- Manage inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and effective stock control procedures.
- Operate and oversee the use of warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) safely and efficiently, ensuring proper maintenance.
- Address and resolve operational issues, equipment malfunctions, and personnel conflicts promptly.
- Provide training and ongoing coaching to team members to enhance their skills and foster career growth.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to night shift activities and performance.
- Collaborate with day shift supervisors and management to ensure smooth handovers and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Warehouse Supervisor or similar leadership role, specifically in an overnight or night shift setting.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, and logistics processes.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and motivational skills.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid Forklift (FLT) licence (Reach & Counterbalance) and demonstrable safe operating practice.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and manage a team effectively during unsupervised hours.
- Solid communication skills, both verbal and written.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Physical capability to handle the demands of a busy warehouse environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Warehousing & Storage or a related field.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation specific to warehousing in the UK.
- Prior experience in a distribution or e-commerce fulfilment centre.
