Job Description
Are you a highly skilled and passionate Senior Robotics Engineer with a proven track record in automation and system integration? Hiring.zycto is seeking an exceptional individual to join our client’s dynamic team, focusing on cutting-edge robotics and automation solutions within the unique operational context of the Zion Church Cultural Centre in Toronto. This pivotal role involves designing, developing, implementing, and optimizing advanced robotic systems to enhance efficiency, safety, and operational capabilities across various functions. You will be instrumental in leading projects from conceptualization through to deployment, working with a diverse range of technologies, including industrial robots, collaborative robots (cobots), autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), and sophisticated control systems.
This position demands a blend of deep technical expertise, innovative problem-solving, and strong leadership capabilities. You will be responsible for defining technical requirements, creating architectural designs, performing simulations, conducting rigorous testing, and ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle development of robotic automation systems, from concept to deployment and optimization.
- Design and architect robust, scalable, and safe robotic solutions, including hardware selection, software development, and control systems.
- Develop and implement advanced algorithms for robot navigation, manipulation, machine vision, and human-robot interaction.
- Perform system integration, testing, validation, and debugging of robotic cells and automated workflows.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses for potential automation projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to define project requirements and deliver successful outcomes.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions for deployed systems.
- Contribute to the strategic roadmap for automation initiatives and evaluate new technologies.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in robotics engineering, with a strong focus on automation.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java, specifically for robotic applications.
- Extensive experience with robotic operating systems (ROS/ROS2) and simulation tools (e.g., Gazebo, CoppeliaSim).
- Demonstrated expertise in industrial automation, including PLCs, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.
- Strong understanding of control theory, kinematics, dynamics, and motion planning for robotic systems.
- Experience with machine vision systems (OpenCV, Halcon) and sensor integration (LiDAR, cameras, force sensors).
- Solid knowledge of safety standards for robotic systems (e.g., ISO 10218, ANSI/RIA R15.06).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in team environments and leading projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with collaborative robots (cobots) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).
- Familiarity with cloud robotics platforms and AI/ML integration in robotics.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP).
- Experience in a cultural or public sector environment.
- Publications or patents in the field of robotics or automation.
