Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking an exceptional and highly motivated Senior Control Systems Engineer with a specialized focus on Automation to join our dynamic engineering team in York Mills, Toronto. This pivotal role involves leading the design, development, implementation, and optimization of complex control systems and automation solutions across various industrial applications. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle development of control systems, from conceptual design and specification to implementation, testing, and commissioning.
- Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLCs (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens), DCS (e.g., Emerson, Honeywell), and other industrial controllers.
- Design and configure HMI/SCADA systems to provide intuitive operator interfaces and data visualization.
- Implement and optimize industrial communication networks (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus).
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure all control systems comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, process, and IT teams to integrate control solutions seamlessly.
- Perform system validation, generate detailed documentation, and provide ongoing technical support and maintenance.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in industrial automation to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in control systems engineering or industrial automation.
- Expert proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell FactoryTalk, Siemens TIA Portal) and HMI/SCADA development (e.g., Ignition, Wonderware, WinCC).
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP/IP).
- Proven experience with PID control loops, motor control, and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to complex system troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated project leadership experience and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario, or eligibility for registration.
- Experience with robotics integration and programming (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB).
- Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, IEC 62061).
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python, C++, or C# for advanced control applications.
