Key Responsibilities

  • Transport patients safely and comfortably via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to various hospital departments (e.g., operating rooms, diagnostic imaging, recovery rooms, patient rooms).
  • Relocate medical equipment, supplies, specimens, and patient charts between units as required, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Respond promptly to urgent calls and requests from nursing staff and other departments.
  • Assist nursing staff with patient transfers, lifts, and mobility as directed, ensuring proper body mechanics and safety protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness, operational readiness, and inventory of transport equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, stretchers) and report any malfunctions.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, families, visitors, and all hospital staff.
  • Adhere strictly to all hospital safety protocols, infection control standards, and patient confidentiality (HIPAA/PHIPA).
  • Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and privacy are maintained throughout the transport process.
  • Provide clear and concise updates on transport status to relevant departments.

Required Skills

  • Excellent physical stamina and strength, capable of prolonged standing, walking, pushing, and lifting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively as part of a diverse team.
  • Exceptional reliability, punctuality, and a strong, proactive work ethic.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills to read labels, follow schedules, and understand instructions.

Preferred Qualifications
