Job Description
The Occupational Health Nurse – Corporate at Hiring.zycto plays a pivotal and proactive role in championing the health, safety, and overall well-being of our valued employees across various corporate functions. Working closely with Human Resources, Safety, and departmental leaders, the Corporate Occupational Health Nurse acts as a trusted advisor and health advocate. Your daily activities will span from conducting thorough health assessments and administering first aid to providing guidance on ergonomic considerations and mental health support. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct health assessments, pre-employment screenings, and periodic health surveillance programs.
- Provide first aid, emergency response, and acute care for work-related injuries and illnesses.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate health promotion and wellness programs, including vaccination clinics, health education seminars, and ergonomic assessments.
- Manage and coordinate return-to-work programs for employees with occupational and non-occupational injuries/illnesses, ensuring smooth transitions and appropriate accommodations.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee health records in compliance with professional standards and privacy regulations (e.g., PHIPA).
- Collaborate with HR, Safety, and management teams to investigate incidents, identify hazards, and recommend preventive strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant provincial and federal occupational health and safety legislation, including Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) regulations.
- Provide expert advice and consultation on occupational health matters, including infection control, hazardous substance exposure, and travel health.
- Participate in the development and review of occupational health policies and procedures.
- Act as a resource for employees on health-related inquiries, providing guidance and referrals to appropriate community services when necessary.
Required Skills
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Minimum of 4 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least 2 years in occupational health within a corporate or industrial setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and WSIB.
- Proficiency in conducting health assessments, case management, and return-to-work planning.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Competency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN(C)).
- Post-graduate education in occupational health, public health, or a related field.
- Experience with mental health first aid or related certifications.
- Familiarity with corporate wellness program development and implementation.
- Experience in emergency response planning and first aid training delivery.
