Job Description

Hiring.zycto is currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Sleep Technologist to join our dynamic team for the night shift at our state-of-the-art facility in Topham Park, Toronto. This is an exceptional opportunity for an RPSGT-certified professional passionate about making a tangible difference in patient health through accurate sleep diagnostics. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct overnight polysomnographic (PSG) studies and other sleep diagnostic procedures according to established protocols and AASM guidelines.
  • Prepare patients for sleep studies, including comprehensive explanations of procedures, proper electrode and sensor placement, and calibration.
  • Monitor patients continuously throughout the night, observing and accurately documenting sleep stages, respiratory events, cardiac activity, and leg movements.
  • Recognize and promptly troubleshoot equipment issues, making real-time adjustments to ensure the accurate acquisition of high-quality data.
  • Score sleep studies accurately and efficiently, adhering strictly to current AASM scoring rules and guidelines.
  • Provide clear and compassionate patient education regarding sleep disorders, study procedures, and post-study instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring strict compliance with all health and safety regulations and infection control policies.
  • Collaborate effectively with sleep physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive, integrated patient care.
  • Respond calmly and professionally to patient needs and emergent situations during overnight shifts, escalating as necessary.
  • Document all relevant patient information, study details, technical observations, and any incidents meticulously and in a timely manner within the electronic health record system.

Required Skills

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in conducting and scoring sleep studies in a clinical setting.
  • Proficiency with various sleep study equipment, software platforms, and diagnostic technologies.
  • Excellent observational, analytical, and critical thinking skills for real-time data interpretation.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient-centered care abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a night shift team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, privacy, and delivering high-quality diagnostic care.
  • Thorough understanding and application of AASM (American Academy of Sleep Medicine) scoring rules and guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related health science field (e.g., Respiratory Therapy, Neurodiagnostics).
  • Experience with advanced sleep study modalities such as Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT) and Maintenance of Wakefulness Tests (MWT).
  • Familiarity with various sleep lab management systems and electronic medical record (EMR) software.
  • Previous experience in a busy hospital or multi-disciplinary sleep clinic setting.
  • Fluency in additional languages commonly spoken within the diverse Toronto community (e.g., Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi).
