Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all nursing services and clinical operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and mission.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care in accordance with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and optimize departmental budgets, resources, and staffing levels to ensure efficient and effective delivery of patient care.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of nursing managers and staff, fostering a culture of professional growth, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Drive initiatives for quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management, monitoring outcomes and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and ethical guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other executive leaders, physicians, and department heads to promote interdisciplinary cooperation and integrated care models.
  • Represent nursing services at executive meetings, committees, and external professional organizations.
  • Champion the adoption of new technologies and innovative approaches to enhance patient care delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee patient satisfaction initiatives and address patient concerns related to nursing care promptly and effectively.

Required Skills

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in nursing, with at least 5 years at an executive or senior management level.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, budget management, and operational leadership within a complex healthcare setting.
  • Profound knowledge of current healthcare trends, regulations, and best practices.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to inspire, motivate, and develop large nursing teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD in a health-related field.
  • Certification in Nursing Administration (e.g., CNA, FACHE).
  • Experience with Magnet Recognition Program or similar excellence frameworks.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems implementation and optimization.
  • Track record of successful change management and innovation initiatives.
