Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking an exceptionally skilled and dedicated Database Administrator to join our technology team in Belfast. This critical role involves the comprehensive management, maintenance, and optimization of our SQL Server databases, ensuring high availability, robust security, and optimal performance. As a Database Administrator, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining effective backup and recovery strategies, performing proactive monitoring, and troubleshooting complex database issues to uphold data integrity and system reliability.
You will play a pivotal part in the lifecycle management of our database environments, from development to production. Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases across various environments.
- Develop, implement, and test robust database backup and recovery plans.
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and perform tuning and optimization.
- Ensure database security, integrity, and availability through proactive measures and incident response.
- Manage database users, roles, and permissions, adhering to security policies.
- Collaborate with development teams on database design, query optimization, and schema changes.
- Perform routine database maintenance, including index rebuilding, statistics updates, and consistency checks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database-related issues efficiently.
- Participate in capacity planning and future database architecture design.
- Document database configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Strong proficiency in T-SQL for querying, scripting, and optimization.
- Extensive experience with database backup and recovery strategies (full, differential, log backups).
- Expertise in performance tuning and optimization techniques (indexing, query plans, statistics).
- Solid understanding of database security principles and implementation.
- Experience with high availability solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn Availability Groups, replication).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and techniques for database health and performance.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
