Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic advisor and confidant to senior medical leadership, providing insights and recommendations on critical organizational issues.
  • Oversee the execution of key strategic initiatives and projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timely completion.
  • Facilitate effective communication and information flow between the medical leadership, various departments, and external stakeholders.
  • Manage and prioritize the medical leadership’s agenda, including meeting preparation, follow-up on action items, and ensuring critical decisions are made and implemented.
  • Lead complex operational improvement projects, identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and analyses to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Represent the medical leadership in internal and external meetings, exercising judgment and discretion on behalf of the organization.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability across the medical division.
  • Anticipate potential challenges and proactively develop mitigation strategies, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Assist in talent management initiatives for medical staff, including recruitment, onboarding, and professional development programs.

Required Skills

  • Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in healthcare administration or leadership roles within a complex medical environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, project management, and operational improvement.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and project management software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a track record of building strong relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or a related field.
  • Experience in change management and organizational development.
  • Familiarity with Canadian healthcare regulations and policies.
  • Leadership experience in an academic medical center or a large hospital system.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP).
