Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as an Entry-Level Patient Transporter in the bustling Shoreham area of Toronto. As a Patient Transporter, you are a crucial link in the patient care chain, responsible for ensuring the safe, comfortable, and timely movement of patients between various departments within a hospital or clinic setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently transport patients via wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds to and from various hospital departments (e.g., admissions, discharge, operating rooms, diagnostic imaging).
  • Assist patients with transferring to and from beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs, ensuring their comfort and dignity at all times.
  • Verify patient identification prior to transport to ensure accuracy and patient safety.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare staff to provide updates and ensure smooth transitions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of transport equipment, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and patient confidentiality (HIPAA/PHIPA).
  • Respond to transport requests in a timely manner and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Provide basic comfort and emotional support to patients during transport, maintaining a reassuring and professional demeanor.
  • Document transport activities as required by facility protocols.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift patients and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sense of empathy, compassion, and patience.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.
  • Basic computer literacy for documentation (preferred, but not required for entry level).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Previous experience in a customer service role.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (basic).
