Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Architect to join our dynamic team in Northenden, Manchester. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional to play a pivotal role in the design and delivery of innovative architectural projects across various sectors. You will be instrumental in all stages of project development, from initial feasibility studies and conceptual design through to detailed planning submissions, tender documentation, and on-site supervision.

As an Architect – Building Design & Planning, you will be expected to demonstrate a deep understanding of architectural principles, building regulations, and sustainable design practices. You will lead design development, prepare comprehensive architectural drawings and specifications using industry-standard software, and effectively communicate design concepts to clients, stakeholders, and project teams. Your role will involve close collaboration with engineers, contractors, and urban planners to ensure seamless project execution and adherence to quality, budget, and timeline constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage architectural projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to design intent, budget, and programme.
  • Develop detailed architectural drawings, specifications, and reports using CAD (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and other design software.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, site analysis, and prepare conceptual designs for presentation to clients.
  • Prepare and submit planning applications, building regulations submissions, and other statutory approvals.
  • Collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee on-site construction to ensure design integrity and quality standards are maintained.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant British Standards, building regulations, and health and safety legislation.
  • Manage project resources, including time, budget, and personnel, to achieve project objectives.
  • Mentor junior architectural staff and contribute to the overall professional development of the team.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and sustainable design practices.

Required Skills

  • RIBA Part 3 qualification (or equivalent) and ARB registration.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience as an Architect.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Strong understanding of UK building regulations and planning policy.
  • Excellent design, technical, and detailing skills.
  • Proven experience in all stages of the RIBA Plan of Work.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrable project management capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with sustainable design principles and BREEAM assessment.
  • Proficiency in 3D rendering software (e.g., Enscape, V-Ray, SketchUp).
  • Experience across a diverse range of sectors, including residential, commercial, and public buildings.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing innovative design solutions and technical proficiency.
