As a Garbage Collector, you will be a frontline hero, responsible for the safe and efficient collection of waste materials from residential and commercial properties along designated routes in the Bathurst Streetcar area. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely collect and load various types of waste and recycling materials onto collection vehicles.
  • Operate hydraulic lift mechanisms and other equipment on garbage trucks under supervision.
  • Follow designated collection routes and schedules accurately and efficiently.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and traffic laws.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Maintain cleanliness of collection areas and equipment.
  • Report any issues, hazards, or equipment malfunctions promptly to the supervisor.
  • Work collaboratively within a team to ensure efficient route completion and service delivery.

Required Skills

  • Strong work ethic and a commitment to reliability.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs/23 kg) and repetitive motions.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety procedures and practices.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Punctuality and dependability are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid G Class driver's license with a clean driving record (considered a significant asset for future advancement).
  • Basic understanding of waste segregation principles (e.g., recycling, organics, general waste).
  • First Aid and CPR certification (an asset, not required upon hiring).
  • Familiarity with the Toronto area, particularly the Bathurst Streetcar vicinity, is a plus.
