As a Salvage Worker, you will play a crucial role in our operations, contributing directly to environmental stewardship by effectively sorting, processing, and preparing various materials for recycling or reuse. Key Responsibilities
- Identify, sort, and separate recyclable materials such as metals, plastics, wood, and other reusable items according to established guidelines.
- Operate basic hand tools and potentially light machinery (after training) safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from designated areas, vehicles, or containers.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and company policies.
- Assist with inventory counts and material movement within the facility.
- Follow supervisors' instructions meticulously to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily production targets and maintain a positive work atmosphere.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate material sorting and identification.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to attendance.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and processes.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding and commitment to workplace safety principles.
- Good communication skills to interact with colleagues and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent life experience).
- Basic mechanical aptitude or familiarity with common hand tools.
- Valid G Class Driver’s License (an asset, but not required).
- Experience working in an outdoor or industrial environment (even if non-salvage related).
