Job Description

As a Salvage Worker, you will play a crucial role in our operations, contributing directly to environmental stewardship by effectively sorting, processing, and preparing various materials for recycling or reuse. Your efforts help divert waste from landfills, support circular economy initiatives, and contribute to a greener community. Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, sort, and separate recyclable materials such as metals, plastics, wood, and other reusable items according to established guidelines.
  • Operate basic hand tools and potentially light machinery (after training) safely and efficiently.
  • Load and unload materials from designated areas, vehicles, or containers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Assist with inventory counts and material movement within the facility.
  • Follow supervisors' instructions meticulously to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily production targets and maintain a positive work atmosphere.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail for accurate material sorting and identification.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to attendance.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and processes.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding and commitment to workplace safety principles.
  • Good communication skills to interact with colleagues and supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent life experience).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude or familiarity with common hand tools.
  • Valid G Class Driver’s License (an asset, but not required).
  • Experience working in an outdoor or industrial environment (even if non-salvage related).
