Key Responsibilities
- Providing direct personal care to residents, respecting their dignity, privacy, and individual preferences.
- Assisting residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, mobility, and household tasks.
- Developing and implementing person-centred care plans in collaboration with residents, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Organizing and actively participating in a diverse range of social, recreational, and educational activities to promote resident engagement and wellbeing.
- Monitoring and accurately recording residents' physical and mental health status, promptly reporting any changes or concerns to senior staff.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for all residents, adhering to strict health and safety protocols.
- Supporting residents in managing their personal finances, appointments, and accessing relevant community resources.
- Adhering strictly to all company policies, procedures, and relevant legislative requirements, including robust safeguarding and health and safety standards.
- Acting as a key worker for designated residents, building strong, trusting, and empathetic relationships.
- Engaging proactively in continuous professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a care or support role, preferably within a residential setting (minimum 1 year).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
- A patient, empathetic, and genuinely compassionate approach to providing care.
- Ability to work effectively both as part of a collaborative team and independently with initiative.
- Good observational, record-keeping, and reporting skills.
- Solid understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults and health & safety principles.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required by the rota.
- Basic IT literacy for digital record-keeping and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
- Experience supporting individuals with specific care needs (e.g., dementia, learning disabilities, mental health support).
- Valid First Aid certificate.
- Full UK driving license (desirable for community outings and appointments).
