Hiring.zycto is seeking a motivated and dedicated Locksmith Apprentice to join our growing team in Markland Wood, Toronto. This is an incredible opportunity for an individual with little to no prior experience to gain hands-on training and mentorship from seasoned professionals in the locksmith industry. We believe in investing in our talent, providing comprehensive on-the-job training that will cover all facets of locksmithing, from traditional lock repair and key cutting to modern electronic access control systems and high-security solutions.

As a Locksmith Apprentice, you will embark on a rewarding journey, learning the intricacies of various locking mechanisms, safe installation, master key systems, and emergency lockout procedures. Our commitment is to transform enthusiastic individuals into skilled, certified locksmiths capable of handling diverse challenges. You will work alongside experienced technicians, assisting on real-world projects, observing best practices, and gradually taking on more responsibility as your skills develop. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior locksmiths on service calls, installations, and repairs.
  • Learn to cut keys accurately using various key-cutting machines.
  • Gain proficiency in identifying, disassembling, and reassembling different types of locks.
  • Shadow technicians during emergency lockout services for residential, commercial, and automotive clients.
  • Help install and repair physical security hardware, including door closers, hinges, and panic bars.
  • Learn to maintain and troubleshoot electronic access control systems under supervision.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service while on job sites.

Required Skills

  • Eagerness to learn and a strong work ethic.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various environments (e.g., bending, kneeling).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with basic hand tools or in a trade-related field.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of local geography in Toronto is a plus.
  • Completion of a pre-apprenticeship program is an asset but not required.
