As an Entry-Level SOC Analyst, you will be a crucial first line of defence, responsible for continuously monitoring our security systems, identifying potential threats, and initiating responses to security incidents. Your day-to-day will involve analyzing security alerts generated by SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools, triaging events to determine their criticality, conducting initial investigations into suspicious activities, and meticulously documenting your findings. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security systems and tools for suspicious activities, alerts, and potential threats in real-time.
- Perform initial triage and analysis of security events to determine their criticality and potential impact.
- Conduct initial investigations into security incidents, gathering relevant information and data.
- Escalate complex or confirmed incidents to senior SOC analysts or incident response teams with comprehensive reports.
- Document all security events, investigations, and actions taken accurately and thoroughly.
- Assist in the development and refinement of security monitoring rules and procedures.
- Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance cybersecurity skills.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of network protocols and topologies (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP)
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux) and their security features.
- Conceptual knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals (e.g., firewalls, anti-virus, IDS/IPS).
