Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and community-oriented individual to join our team as a Bylaw Enforcement Assistant in West Haven, Leduc. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Bylaw Officers in responding to and investigating minor bylaw infractions, such as parking, waste management, and animal control issues.
  • Educate residents and businesses on municipal bylaws and regulations, promoting voluntary compliance.
  • Document observations, interactions, and evidence accurately and thoroughly, maintaining detailed records.
  • Provide administrative support to the Bylaw Services department, including data entry and report generation.
  • Respond to public inquiries and complaints in a professional and courteous manner, escalating complex issues as necessary.
  • Conduct routine patrols of designated areas to identify potential bylaw violations.
  • Participate in community outreach programs and initiatives to foster positive relationships between the public and Bylaw Services.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with the public.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain composure in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to public service and community safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Criminology, Law Enforcement, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in customer service, public interaction, or a regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge of municipal bylaws and provincial statutes relevant to bylaw enforcement.
