Job Description

Hiring.zycto is excited to offer a rewarding entry-level opportunity for an Evening Shift Recreation Centre Attendant in the vibrant Okanagan Landing area of Vernon. As an Evening Shift Recreation Centre Attendant, you will be the welcoming face of our facility, ensuring a safe, clean, and positive experience for all visitors and participants during our busiest hours. This role requires a proactive approach to customer service, keen attention to detail, and a strong commitment to maintaining operational standards.

Your primary focus will be on supporting evening programs, events, and general facility usage, ensuring seamless operations from late afternoon through closing. This means not only assisting patrons with their needs but also actively monitoring the facility, setting up and taking down equipment, and performing light custodial duties to keep our centre pristine. You’ll be instrumental in creating an inviting atmosphere where community members of all ages can enjoy our diverse range of recreational offerings. Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist all patrons, members, and visitors with a friendly and professional demeanor, providing information on programs, schedules, and facility rules.
  • Monitor facility areas, including gymnasiums, common areas, and program spaces, to ensure safety, cleanliness, and adherence to policies during evening hours.
  • Perform routine setup and takedown of equipment for various recreational activities and events.
  • Conduct light cleaning and maintenance tasks, such as wiping down surfaces, tidying up areas, and restocking supplies, to maintain a high standard of facility presentation.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to inquiries, concerns, and emergencies, escalating issues to supervisory staff as needed.
  • Process registrations, membership renewals, and program payments using point-of-sale systems.
  • Enforce facility regulations and safety protocols to ensure a secure and enjoyable environment for all users.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures of the recreation centre, including securing facilities and preparing for the next day's operations.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all facility users and staff.

Required Skills

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Reliability and punctuality, particularly for evening shifts.
  • Basic computer proficiency for administrative tasks and point-of-sale systems.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform light manual tasks throughout a shift.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or public-facing role.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Familiarity with recreational programming or facility operations.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to reliable transportation.
