Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet customers, take drink orders accurately, and efficiently process them.
- Prepare and serve a comprehensive range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including draught beers, wines, spirits, cocktails, and soft drinks.
- Maintain impeccable cleanliness and organisation of the bar area, back bar, and storage, adhering strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems, handle cash and card transactions with precision, and reconcile cash at the end of shifts.
- Monitor customer alcohol consumption responsibly, ensuring compliance with licensing laws and company policies regarding responsible serving.
- Actively assist with opening and closing procedures, which include setting up the bar, restocking fridges, cleaning equipment, and securing the premises.
- Engage with customers in a friendly, professional, and attentive manner, anticipating their needs and offering recommendations.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and management to ensure smooth service operations, minimise waiting times, and maximise customer satisfaction.
- Address customer enquiries, feedback, and any potential issues promptly and courteously, escalating when necessary.
- Ensure all areas of the venue are kept tidy and presentable throughout service, contributing to a welcoming environment.
Required Skills
- A minimum of 6 months previous experience in a bar, restaurant, or customer service role.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a polite and engaging demeanour.
- Demonstrated ability to perform effectively and calmly in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in drink preparation and cash handling accuracy.
- High level of reliability and punctuality, with proven flexibility to work evening shifts, including weekends.
- A proactive, positive attitude and a genuine passion for delivering outstanding customer service.
- Basic knowledge of various types of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including serving temperatures and garnishes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of a current Personal Licence or demonstrable willingness to obtain one.
- Proficiency with modern till systems (POS) and electronic payment processing.
- In-depth knowledge of local licensing laws, Challenge 25 policy, and health and safety regulations.
- Proven experience in basic cocktail preparation and mixology.
- Food hygiene certification (Level 1 or 2).
