Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Food Safety Inspectors with routine inspections of food establishments, processing plants, and retail outlets.
  • Perform administrative duties including data entry, record keeping, and filing of inspection reports and related documentation.
  • Collect and prepare samples of food products for laboratory analysis, ensuring proper handling and chain of custody.
  • Maintain and organize inspection equipment and supplies.
  • Research and compile information related to food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with inspectors, colleagues, and establishment operators in a professional manner.
  • Learn and apply relevant food safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with follow-up activities to ensure compliance with inspection recommendations.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite, data entry software).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) and access to reliable transportation for fieldwork.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry equipment (up to 25 lbs) during inspections.
