Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planting, cultivating, harvesting, and post-harvest activities for various crops and plants.
  • Prepare and maintain growing areas, including soil conditioning, aeration, and nutrient management.
  • Operate and maintain agricultural machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently.
  • Implement irrigation schedules and monitor water usage for optimal plant health.
  • Conduct pest and disease identification and apply appropriate control measures, including biological and organic solutions.
  • Monitor plant health, growth, and environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, humidity, light).
  • Assist with the construction, maintenance, and repair of horticultural structures and equipment.
  • Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities, observations, and inputs.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve project goals and share best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in agricultural or horticultural operations (can be informal or formal).
  • Strong practical skills in planting, cultivation, and harvesting.
  • Ability to operate and maintain basic agricultural tools and machinery.
  • Basic understanding of plant care, soil science, and irrigation techniques.
  • Ability to identify common plant pests and diseases.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor outdoors and indoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic English language proficiency for communication and safety instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal qualification in Agriculture, Horticulture, Botany, or a related field.
  • Experience with urban farming, controlled environment agriculture (CEA), or sustainable growing methods.
  • Knowledge of organic farming principles and integrated pest management (IPM).
  • Experience operating forklifts or other specialized agricultural equipment (with relevant certification).
  • First Aid certification.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to learn quickly.
