Job Description

Hiring.zycto is on the lookout for a highly skilled and dedicated Mechanical Engineer to bolster our Plant Operations and Equipment Repair team in Rowley Regis, Birmingham. This pivotal role requires a hands-on professional capable of ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and longevity of our critical industrial machinery and systems. You will be at the forefront of our operational efficiency, applying your expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse range of mechanical equipment within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. From heavy-duty conveyors and complex hydraulic systems to precision pumps and industrial heating units, your technical acumen will be vital in keeping our operations running smoothly.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be instrumental in executing both preventative and reactive maintenance strategies. Your day-to-day will involve meticulously troubleshooting complex mechanical faults, performing essential repairs, and conducting thorough inspections to preempt potential issues before they escalate. This isn’t just about fixing things when they break; it’s about proactively implementing solutions, optimizing machinery performance, and contributing to long-term operational excellence through strategic maintenance planning. You’ll work closely with production teams, understanding their operational needs and collaborating on engineering solutions that minimize downtime, enhance output quality, and improve overall plant efficiency. Your ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical staff will be highly valued, fostering a collaborative and informed work environment.

We expect a strong commitment to the highest safety standards, ensuring all mechanical work complies with relevant health and safety regulations, including LOLER, PUWER, and internal company policies. Your proactive approach to risk assessment and hazard identification will be crucial in maintaining a secure working environment. Documentation is key, so you’ll be responsible for maintaining accurate, detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, equipment modifications, and inventory of spare parts. Your insights derived from these records will be crucial in identifying areas for continuous improvement, proposing engineering solutions for recurring problems, and contributing to capital projects aimed at upgrading our plant infrastructure and embracing new technologies. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to significantly impact our operational success, leveraging your technical prowess to drive efficiency, innovation, and reliability across our facilities. If you thrive on challenging mechanical problems, possess a keen eye for detail, and are eager to make a tangible difference in a leading industrial setting, we encourage you to apply. Join a team where your engineering skills are highly valued, and your professional development is actively supported through continuous learning opportunities.
