Key Responsibilities
- Perform setup, installation, configuration, and deployment of new hardware including desktops, laptops, printers, servers, and other peripheral devices.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues promptly and efficiently, including component failures, connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks.
- Conduct preventative maintenance, updates, and upgrades for all hardware systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Provide technical support to end-users, guiding them through hardware-related problems and offering solutions with a professional and friendly demeanor.
- Document all technical issues, resolutions, and system configurations accurately within our IT service management platform.
- Manage inventory of IT hardware, track assets, and facilitate procurement of new equipment as needed.
- Collaborate with the network and software teams to ensure hardware compatibility and smooth integration with existing systems.
- Assist in the evaluation and testing of new hardware technologies and solutions to enhance company infrastructure.
- Adhere to IT security policies and best practices to safeguard company data and systems.
- Train end-users on basic hardware operation and best practices to minimize common issues.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting for desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
- Strong understanding of computer hardware components and their functions (CPU, RAM, storage, motherboards, GPUs).
- Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving issues related to operating systems (Windows, macOS) in a hardware context.
- Familiarity with network hardware (routers, switches, Wi-Fi access points) and basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently to resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective user support.
- Ability to lift and move computer equipment as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA A+ or equivalent certification.
- Experience with server hardware and basic server maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of IT asset management best practices.
- Experience with remote diagnostic tools and support software.
- A degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
