Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV Class 1 or 2) for the transportation of goods.
- Conduct thorough pre-shift and post-shift vehicle inspections, reporting any defects promptly.
- Ensure secure loading and unloading of goods, adhering to company safety procedures.
- Complete all necessary delivery paperwork and digital records accurately and on time.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members.
- Adhere to all road safety regulations, driving laws, and company policies.
- Manage working hours in compliance with tachograph regulations.
- Maintain the cleanliness and good condition of the vehicle.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries.
Required Skills
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) driving license.
- Driver CPC qualification.
- Digital Tachograph card.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of commercial HGV driving experience.
- Proven track record of safe driving and adherence to road regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of driving hours regulations and vehicle maintenance checks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to complete paperwork accurately and work independently.
- Good understanding of routes within London and the Home Counties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of goods and delivery environments.
- Additional qualifications such as ADR (Dangerous Goods) certificate.
- Familiarity with telematics systems and route optimization software.
- Previous experience working in the UK logistics sector.
