Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly organized, proactive, and calm Dispatcher to join our team, working to support the critical operational needs of the prestigious Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto. This is an urgent hiring opportunity for an individual ready to step into a pivotal role, ensuring seamless communication and coordination across various departments, ultimately contributing to the safety, security, and smooth functioning of one of Canada’s most celebrated cultural institutions.

As a Dispatcher, you will be the central hub for real-time information flow, managing incoming requests, coordinating personnel and resources, and responding to evolving situations with efficiency and composure. Your keen attention to detail will be essential in tracking patrols, logging incidents, and maintaining precise records, all while prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment. This role goes beyond simple call management; it demands an analytical mind capable of anticipating needs, troubleshooting issues remotely, and providing clear, concise instructions to staff on the ground. You will be instrumental in deploying security personnel, coordinating maintenance requests, and managing emergency responses, ensuring swift and effective action.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and prioritize incoming calls and requests for assistance from various departments.
  • Dispatch security, maintenance, and other personnel to incidents, emergencies, or routine tasks.
  • Monitor surveillance systems and alarm panels, responding to alerts and coordinating appropriate actions.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed logs of all communications, dispatches, and incidents.
  • Communicate effectively with internal staff, management, and external emergency services.
  • Provide clear, concise instructions and information to personnel on the ground.
  • Anticipate operational needs and proactively deploy resources to maintain efficiency.
  • Operate multi-line phone systems, two-way radios, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and security procedures and protocols.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a dispatch or similar coordination role.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency with dispatch software, multi-line phone systems, and radio communication.
  • Strong geographical knowledge of Toronto and the surrounding areas.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities under stress.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a security, operations, or facilities dispatch center.
  • Familiarity with the operations of cultural institutions or large public venues.
  • Certification in first aid and CPR.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
