Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Entry Level Water Treatment Plant Assistant in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Key Responsibilities
- Assist Water Treatment Plant Operators in daily operational tasks, including monitoring plant equipment and gauges.
- Conduct routine checks of pumps, motors, and other mechanical equipment, reporting any anomalies.
- Collect water samples for laboratory analysis and assist with basic in-plant water quality tests.
- Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness and organization within the plant.
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning filters, inspecting pipes, and minor repairs.
- Accurately record operational data, readings, and maintenance activities.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Support emergency response procedures as directed by senior staff.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn about machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and working in various weather conditions.
- Commitment to workplace safety and environmental compliance.
- Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in environmental science, engineering technology, or a related field.
- Any prior experience in a plant, manufacturing, or industrial setting.
- Knowledge of basic chemistry or biology concepts.
- Familiarity with computer-based monitoring systems (SCADA).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
