Hiring.zycto is seeking a skilled and passionate Carpenter with a specialized focus on woodwork and furniture to join our dedicated team in Headingley, Leeds. In this role, you will be instrumental in creating bespoke furniture, custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, and other unique wooden structures for a diverse range of clients. From initial design interpretation to final installation, you will manage all aspects of the woodworking process. This involves carefully selecting and preparing various types of timber, executing precise cuts and joinery, assembling components, and applying finishes that enhance the natural beauty and durability of the wood. You will be expected to work with a variety of hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery while strictly adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.

Key Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate dimensions.
- Select and prepare appropriate timber and materials for various projects, ensuring quality and minimizing waste.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wooden components using hand and power tools, and woodworking machinery.
- Construct, repair, and install custom furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other wooden fixtures.
- Perform intricate joinery work, including dovetails, mortise and tenon, and other specialized techniques.
- Apply finishes such as stains, varnishes, and paints to protect and enhance wooden surfaces.
- Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure accuracy, structural integrity, and aesthetic appeal.
- Collaborate with designers, clients, and other team members to understand project requirements and provide expert input.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to woodworking and installation.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Carpenter with a strong focus on woodwork and furniture making.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Expertise in using a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
- Strong understanding of different wood types, their properties, and best uses.
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision in measurements and cuts.
- Excellent knowledge of joinery techniques and finishing processes.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry & Joinery, or equivalent vocational qualification.
- Experience in bespoke furniture design and construction.
- Portfolio showcasing previous woodwork and furniture projects.
- Knowledge of CAD software for woodworking design.
- Ability to operate CNC machinery.
