Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations.
- Diagnose and repair faults in electrical systems, apparatus, and components using testing equipment and hand tools.
- Perform preventive maintenance and calibrate electrical components and instruments.
- Connect electrical power to production equipment, machinery, and various systems.
- Work with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), including programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and company safety policies.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople and engineers to complete projects efficiently and effectively.
Required Skills
- Journeyman Industrial Electrician certification (or equivalent internationally recognized qualification).
- Minimum 3 years (36 months) of proven experience as an Industrial Electrician, preferably in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial electrical systems (up to 600V).
- Strong understanding and application of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
- Experience with PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Allen-Bradley) and HMI systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and experience with Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and motor control systems.
- Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems.
- Prior experience working with diverse international teams.
- Proficiency in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Additional certifications in related fields (e.g., arc flash, confined space entry).
