Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Dietary Aide to join our vibrant team at the University of British Columbia (UBC) campus in Vancouver. This essential role plays a critical part in ensuring the well-being and satisfaction of students, staff, and visitors by providing exceptional food service support within our dining facilities. As a Dietary Aide, you will be instrumental in the daily operations of food preparation, meal service, and maintaining a hygienic and welcoming dining environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks according to standardized recipes and dietary requirements.
- Set up and clear dining areas, ensuring cleanliness and proper presentation.
- Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, and kitchen equipment.
- Ensure proper storage of food items and supplies, following FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety and sanitation regulations (e.g., HACCP, local health codes).
- Interact with students, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Assist with inventory management and stocking of kitchen and dining supplies.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, food quality issues, or safety hazards to supervisors.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support kitchen and dining operations.
Required Skills
- Food Safe Level 1 certification (or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire).
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs consistently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse groups.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team-oriented environment.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of hygiene, sanitation practices, and safe food handling procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6+ months) in a food service, hospitality, or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets, allergens, and special dietary needs.
- Experience working in a large institutional or university dining environment.
- Fluency in multiple languages, an asset in our diverse university community.
