Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients via wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds between departments (e.g., wards, operating rooms, diagnostic imaging) ensuring their comfort and dignity.
- Assist with the movement of medical equipment, supplies, specimens, and patient belongings as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of transport equipment, including regular disinfection and reporting maintenance needs.
- Provide clear, respectful, and empathetic communication with patients, families, and staff.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control protocols and patient safety guidelines.
- Respond promptly to requests for portering services, managing time effectively to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Assist nursing staff with patient transfers and repositioning when necessary, following established safety protocols.
- Orient new patients to their surroundings and assist with minor queries, directing them to appropriate staff for more complex issues.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
