Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, including diagnostic interviews, psychometric testing, and formulation of client needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices and client goals.
- Provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy using various modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic approaches.
- Offer crisis intervention and comprehensive risk assessments, developing appropriate safety plans as required.
- Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals (e.g., psychiatrists, social workers, general practitioners, occupational therapists) to ensure integrated and holistic client care.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records and documentation in strict compliance with professional, ethical, and organizational standards.
- Actively engage in continuous professional development, clinical supervision, and peer consultation to enhance clinical skills and stay abreast of new research.
- Participate in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and contributing to the strategic direction of mental health services.
- Adhere strictly to ethical guidelines and professional standards set by the College of Psychologists of British Columbia and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Provide expert consultation and training to staff, interns, and external partners on psychological matters and best practices.
Required Skills
- Valid registration/licensure as a Psychologist in British Columbia (or eligibility for registration).
- Proven expertise in clinical assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based psychological interventions.
- Proficiency in various therapeutic modalities applicable to diverse populations and presenting issues.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for report writing, case formulation, and client interaction.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy, active listening, and the ability to build rapport.
- Demonstrated ability to perform crisis intervention and risk assessment.
- Unwavering commitment to ethical decision-making and professional conduct.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate and confidential client records and documentation.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to work with clients from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-doctoral fellowship or specialized training in areas such as trauma, addictions, neuropsychology, or child/adolescent psychology.
- Previous experience working within a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Experience in program development or quality improvement initiatives.
- Research experience or published contributions to the field of psychology.
- Bilingualism or multilingualism (e.g., English and French, Mandarin, Punjabi) to serve Vancouver's diverse community.
