Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine lawn care, including mowing, edging, strimming, and weeding, ensuring high standards of presentation.
- Maintain planted areas, gardens, and shrubbery through pruning, watering, fertilising, and pest control.
- Operate and safely maintain a variety of grounds maintenance equipment, such as ride-on mowers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and chainsaws.
- Undertake seasonal tasks including leaf clearance, litter picking, gritting, and snow removal as required.
- Inspect grounds regularly for damage, hazards, or areas requiring attention, reporting findings promptly.
- Ensure pathways, car parks, and public areas are clean, safe, and free from obstructions.
- Carry out basic repairs and maintenance to ground fixtures, fences, benches, and play equipment.
- Manage waste and recycling in designated areas, adhering to environmental guidelines.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain clear and accurate records of work completed and materials used.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (2+ years) in groundskeeping, horticulture, or a related landscaping role.
- Demonstrable proficiency in operating and maintaining a range of grounds maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.
- Solid understanding of horticultural practices, plant identification, and seasonal care requirements.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform demanding manual labour in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time effectively.
- Valid UK driving licence with a clean record.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Horticulture, Landscaping, or a related field.
- PA1/PA6 certification for the safe application of pesticides.
- Experience with basic irrigation system setup, maintenance, and repair.
- Certification in First Aid.
- Knowledge of local flora and fauna, and environmentally sound grounds management practices.
