Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and other specifications to determine appropriate welding techniques and sequences.
  • Operate various welding equipment (MIG, TIG, Stick) to fuse metals according to project requirements and industry standards.
  • Inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws and ensure compliance with quality control standards and project specifications.
  • Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, cleaning, and positioning components.
  • Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and provincial codes.
  • Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and other team members to optimize production processes and resolve technical challenges.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW) welding processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
  • Strong knowledge of various metal properties and appropriate welding filler materials.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Commitment to workplace safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a high standard of quality in all work performed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) certification in multiple positions/processes.
  • Experience with structural welding and heavy fabrication.
  • Familiarity with robotic welding systems or automated welding processes.
  • Post-secondary education or apprenticeship in welding or a related field.
  • Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts.
