Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and other specifications to determine appropriate welding techniques and sequences.
- Operate various welding equipment (MIG, TIG, Stick) to fuse metals according to project requirements and industry standards.
- Inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws and ensure compliance with quality control standards and project specifications.
- Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, cleaning, and positioning components.
- Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and provincial codes.
- Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and other team members to optimize production processes and resolve technical challenges.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW) welding processes.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
- Strong knowledge of various metal properties and appropriate welding filler materials.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Commitment to workplace safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a high standard of quality in all work performed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) certification in multiple positions/processes.
- Experience with structural welding and heavy fabrication.
- Familiarity with robotic welding systems or automated welding processes.
- Post-secondary education or apprenticeship in welding or a related field.
- Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts.
