Job Description
Hiring.zycto is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and skilled Network Administrator to join our IT team, specifically supporting the vital operations of the Vancouver Public Library. In this full-time, on-site role, you will be the backbone of our network infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity and optimal performance for staff and patrons alike. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of our local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs), ensuring high availability, reliability, and robust cybersecurity measures are consistently in place. Your work will directly impact daily operations, from public access computers to administrative systems, making this a pivotal role in delivering essential library services to the Vancouver community. Key Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability, identifying and resolving network issues proactively.
- Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems, to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.
- Configure and support various network services such as DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and QoS.
- Perform regular network backups, disaster recovery planning, and ensure data integrity.
- Collaborate with the broader IT team to plan, design, and implement new network solutions and upgrades.
- Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for future reference and knowledge sharing.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users on network-related issues.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years of experience in network administration or a similar role.
- Proven expertise with network protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, OSPF, BGP).
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent enterprise-grade networking equipment.
- Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or similar.
- Experience with cloud networking concepts (Azure, AWS) is a plus.
- Familiarity with ITIL framework.
