Job Description

As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for the meticulous loading, transport, and unloading of a variety of packages, from important documents to larger consignments. Accurate record-keeping, secure handling of goods, and effective communication with dispatch and customers are paramount. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load, transport, and unload packages of varying sizes and weights.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries using GPS and company software.
- Adhere strictly to delivery schedules and deadlines.
- Accurately track packages and update delivery status using handheld scanners and mobile applications.
- Perform routine vehicle checks and ensure the delivery vehicle is clean and well-maintained.
- Interact professionally with customers, obtaining signatures and confirming deliveries.
- Handle sensitive documents and valuable goods with utmost care and discretion.
- Communicate effectively with the dispatch team regarding delivery updates, delays, or issues.
- Comply with all traffic laws and company safety regulations.
- Assist with sorting packages in the depot when required.
Required Skills
- Valid UK driving licence (Category B minimum).
- Clean driving record.
- Excellent knowledge of Edinburgh city roads and surrounding areas.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to lift and carry packages up to 25kg.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with GPS devices and smartphone applications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (1+ year) as a courier or delivery driver.
- Experience with package tracking software.
- Familiarity with local Haymarket area businesses and residences.
