Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a skilled and dedicated Electrician with a strong background in both domestic and industrial wiring to join our growing team in Cramond, Edinburgh. This vital role involves executing a broad spectrum of electrical tasks, from intricate household installations and repairs to complex industrial system maintenance and new project wiring. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in domestic properties.
- Perform installations, maintenance, and fault finding on industrial electrical systems, control panels, and machinery.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to determine the layouts of electrical systems.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Comply with all relevant health and safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards (e.g., BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations).
- Conduct testing of electrical systems to ensure proper functioning and safety.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing devices.
- Provide clear communication and explanations to clients regarding work performed and necessary repairs.
- Manage and maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and hours spent.
- Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and project managers on multidisciplinary sites.
Required Skills
- Qualified Electrician (e.g., SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation)
- Proven experience in both domestic and industrial electrical wiring and installations
- Thorough understanding of BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition or current)
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
- Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment (e.g., multi-meters, insulation testers)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid UK driving license
- Strong commitment to health and safety practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Current ECS Gold Card (Electrician)
- Inspection and Testing qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 2391 or 2392)
- Experience with renewable energy systems (e.g., solar PV, EV charging)
- Confined Space training
- First Aid certification
