Hiring.zycto is seeking a skilled and experienced Roof Installer with a specialization in both metal and wood roof assembly to join our dynamic team in Dalry, Edinburgh. As a Roof Installer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the successful execution of roofing projects from conception to completion. Your role will encompass the accurate measurement, cutting, and installation of various roofing materials, with a particular focus on both modern metal roofing systems and traditional wood shingle/board installations. You will work closely with project managers and fellow tradespeople, interpreting blueprints, adhering to strict specifications, and troubleshooting on-site challenges effectively. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately measure, cut, and install various roofing materials, including metal panels, flashing, wood shingles, and other related components.
- Prepare roof surfaces for installation, ensuring proper insulation, waterproofing, and structural integrity.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to ensure accurate and compliant installations.
- Operate a range of hand and power tools safely and efficiently, including saws, drills, shears, and specialized roofing equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and best practices on every job site.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, site supervisors, and other construction team members.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on installed roofs to ensure longevity and quality.
- Identify and resolve on-site issues or discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment at all times.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members when required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in roof installation, specifically with metal and wood assembly.
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools common in roofing trades.
- Strong understanding of roofing materials, techniques, and construction methods.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications.
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Commitment to safety protocols and practices.
- Valid UK Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Roofing Occupations.
- CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with different types of metal roofing systems (e.g., standing seam, corrugated).
- Familiarity with Scottish building regulations and standards.
