Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Certified Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate team in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Montreal. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures, including anesthesia induction and monitoring.
  • Perform diagnostic laboratory tests such as urinalysis, fecal analysis, cytology, and hematology.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian, accurately documenting all procedures.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including sterile preparation, and monitor vital signs throughout surgical and recovery phases.
  • Provide compassionate nursing care for hospitalized patients, including feeding, walking, and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Educate pet owners on animal care, post-operative instructions, medication administration, and preventative health measures.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring all patient information is current and accessible.
  • Operate and maintain veterinary medical equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals, assisting with ordering and stocking.
  • Assist with dental procedures, including scaling, polishing, and taking dental radiographs.

Required Skills

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) status in Quebec.
  • Proven experience in a veterinary clinic setting, minimum 2 years.
  • Proficiency in veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
  • Excellent venipuncture and catheter placement skills.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic imaging (radiography) and laboratory tests.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both with colleagues and pet owners.
  • Proficiency in veterinary practice management software.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specialized veterinary software (e.g., Avimark, Cornerstone).
  • Certification in Fear FreeSM practices or equivalent animal handling training.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset.
  • Experience in dental radiography and advanced dental procedures.
  • Advanced training or certification in anesthesia monitoring.
