Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a diligent and empathetic Industrial Crematory Operator to join our partner’s dedicated team in Montreal. This crucial full-time role involves the safe, respectful, and efficient operation of cremation equipment within an industrial setting, ensuring adherence to all regulatory standards and company protocols. As an Industrial Crematory Operator, you will be responsible for managing the entire cremation process from start to finish, including receiving and identification, preparation of remains, loading and monitoring the retort, and processing of cremated remains. This position demands a high level of attention to detail, a strong understanding of industrial machinery, and an unwavering commitment to dignity and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain cremation retorts and associated equipment in strict accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Verify identification of deceased individuals and ensure accurate tracking throughout the entire cremation process.
- Prepare deceased for cremation, including removal of prosthetics and personal effects, following all protocols.
- Load and monitor the cremation chamber, adjusting controls as necessary to ensure efficient and complete combustion.
- Process cremated remains respectfully and meticulously, ensuring proper pulverization and placement into designated urns/containers.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all cremations, equipment maintenance, and inventory.
- Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and preventative maintenance on all crematory equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
- Adhere strictly to all local, provincial, and federal regulations pertaining to cremation services, environmental protection, and workplace safety.
- Handle and store all sensitive materials and personal effects with the highest level of respect and confidentiality.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices and regulatory changes.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an industrial or mechanical operator role.
- Proven ability to operate complex machinery and monitor industrial processes.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and compliance in an industrial setting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Demonstrated empathy, respect, and discretion when handling sensitive materials.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and record management.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English or French.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in crematory operations or a related field.
- Experience in a funeral services or death care industry setting.
- Mechanical or electrical aptitude for minor equipment troubleshooting.
