Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a passionate and skilled Audio Technician to join our dynamic music production team in West Didsbury, Manchester. As an Audio Technician, you will be deeply involved in the entire music production pipeline. Your day-to-day will involve setting up and calibrating audio equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, assisting during recording sessions, and ensuring optimal sound quality for all our productions. You will work closely with producers, musicians, and other creative professionals, bringing your technical expertise and artistic ear to every project. This role requires not just technical proficiency but also a proactive approach to problem-solving and a genuine enthusiasm for creating compelling auditory experiences. Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, calibrate, and maintain audio equipment, including microphones, mixing consoles, DAWs, and outboard gear.
  • Operate recording equipment during live sessions, ensuring optimal microphone placement and signal flow.
  • Assist in the mixing and mastering processes, applying critical listening skills to achieve desired sonic outcomes.
  • Conduct quality control checks on all audio outputs to ensure industry-leading standards are met.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with audio hardware and software in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate closely with producers, artists, and engineers to understand project requirements and deliver on creative vision.
  • Manage and organize audio files and project archives efficiently.
  • Provide technical support for live events, rehearsals, and studio sessions as needed.
  • Stay updated with the latest audio technologies, software, and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience with professional audio recording and mixing techniques.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, or Ableton Live.
  • Strong understanding of acoustics, signal processing, and audio hardware.
  • Excellent ear for detail and critical listening skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex audio systems and equipment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team.
  • Knowledge of various microphone types and their appropriate applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
  • Experience with mastering processes and relevant software/plugins.
  • Familiarity with live sound reinforcement and stage monitoring.
  • Basic knowledge of music theory and composition.
  • Portfolio demonstrating previous audio engineering or music production work.
