Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Rental Agent to join our vibrant team in Edmonton, Alberta. As a Car Rental Agent, you will be the first point of contact for our valued customers, playing a crucial role in ensuring a seamless and positive rental experience from start to finish. This isn’t just about handing over keys; it’s about building rapport, understanding customer needs, and offering solutions that enhance their travel or business plans.
You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including assisting customers with reservations, explaining rental agreements, processing payments, and conducting vehicle walk-arounds. A significant part of your role will involve actively listening to customers to identify opportunities to upsell additional products and services, such as insurance coverage, GPS devices, or vehicle upgrades, thereby maximizing revenue and customer satisfaction. You will become an expert in our fleet, advising clients on the best vehicle for their specific requirements, whether it’s a compact car for city driving, an SUV for family trips, or a luxury vehicle for a special occasion.
Beyond direct customer interaction, you will also contribute to the operational efficiency of our branch. This includes maintaining accurate rental records, managing vehicle availability, coordinating with our detailing and maintenance teams, and ensuring our rental counter is always presentable and well-stocked. Problem-solving skills are essential, as you’ll be tasked with addressing customer inquiries, resolving minor disputes, and handling unexpected situations with professionalism and grace. Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with vehicle rental inquiries and reservations.
- Process rental agreements, collect payments, and explain terms and conditions clearly.
- Conduct pre-rental vehicle inspections and post-rental check-ins with customers, documenting any damages.
- Actively upsell additional products and services (e.g., insurance, GPS, car seats, vehicle upgrades) to meet sales targets.
- Provide expert advice on vehicle selection to match customer needs and preferences.
- Resolve customer complaints and issues professionally and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the rental counter and surrounding areas.
- Manage rental fleet inventory, ensuring vehicles are ready for pickup and tracking returns.
- Coordinate with vehicle maintenance and cleaning staff to ensure timely vehicle preparation.
- Accurately record and update customer information and rental details in the system.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, as well as relevant traffic and rental regulations.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven customer service experience, ideally in a retail or hospitality setting.
- Strong sales and upselling abilities.
- Proficiency with computer systems and ability to learn new software quickly.
- Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in the car rental industry.
- Knowledge of local geography and popular travel destinations in Alberta.
- Familiarity with rental management software.
- Ability to speak a second language (e.g., French, Punjabi, Tagalog) is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in business, tourism, or a related field.
