In this multifaceted role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of both corporate and family law caseloads. Your day will involve preparing legal documents, conducting preliminary legal research, managing client communications with empathy and professionalism, and maintaining meticulous file organisation. For our Corporate Law section, you will assist with company formations, contract drafting, due diligence processes, and ensuring regulatory compliance. In Family Law, your support will be vital in divorce proceedings, child arrangements, financial settlements, and domestic violence cases, requiring a sensitive and discreet approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and draft legal documents, correspondence, and court forms for both Corporate and Family Law cases.
  • Conduct initial legal research, including case law, statutes, and regulatory guidelines relevant to ongoing matters.
  • Manage client communications, including answering queries, scheduling appointments, and maintaining a professional and empathetic approach.
  • Organise and maintain client files, both physical and electronic, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility.
  • Assist solicitors with case management, including diary management, deadline tracking, and coordinating meetings.
  • Process client billing, expenses, and manage financial transactions as directed.
  • Liaise with external parties such as barristers, courts, and other legal professionals.
  • Support with administrative tasks, including photocopying, scanning, and reception duties when required.
  • Assist in the preparation for court hearings, meetings, and client conferences.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal regulations and firm policies.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (18+ months) as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or Solicitor Assistant, preferably with exposure to Corporate or Family Law.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of organisation and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong time management and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Discretion and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • LPC, GDL, or ILEX qualification.
  • Experience with legal practice management software.
  • Specific experience in both Corporate and Family Law disciplines.
  • A genuine interest in continuous professional development within the legal sector.
