Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly meticulous and dedicated Quality Assurance Technician to join our dynamic lab team at Fort Edmonton Park. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in upholding the highest standards of quality and safety for our diverse range of products and processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests, analyses, and inspections to ensure compliance with established quality specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal standards. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, and a commitment to maintaining accurate documentation. You will work closely with production, R&D, and other departments to identify potential quality issues, investigate root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and non-routine laboratory tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using established analytical methods and instrumentation (e.g., pH meters, spectrophotometers, titrators).
  • Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and ensure all quality parameters are within specified limits.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of all test results, observations, and data in laboratory notebooks and quality management systems.
  • Perform calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Investigate out-of-specification results, identify potential root causes, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Prepare laboratory reagents, standards, and samples according to documented procedures.
  • Collaborate with production and R&D teams to troubleshoot quality issues and support process improvements.
  • Adhere strictly to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and safety protocols.
  • Participate in internal audits and support external quality audits as required.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of quality processes and documentation.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control lab setting, preferably in food & beverage or manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory techniques, analytical instrumentation, and data interpretation.
  • Proficiency in performing pH, titrations, moisture analysis, and other relevant chemical/physical tests.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) meticulously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting results and collaborating with teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience with HACCP, ISO 9001, or other quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., CFIA, FDA).
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting advanced analytical equipment.
  • Prior experience in sensory evaluation or microbial testing.
