Hiring.zycto is seeking highly vigilant and dedicated Airport Security Officers specializing in Access Control & Screening to join our critical team in Chapeltown, Sheffield. Your primary focus will involve comprehensive access control and passenger/baggage screening operations. You will be responsible for meticulously examining passengers, their carry-on and checked luggage, and cargo using advanced screening technologies and thorough physical search techniques. The role demands an unwavering commitment to identifying prohibited items, potential threats, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory security standards set by aviation authorities. Beyond the technical aspects, you will serve as a crucial point of contact for the travelling public, providing clear instructions, offering assistance, and maintaining a calm, reassuring presence even in demanding situations.
Effective access control is paramount. You will manage and monitor entry points to restricted areas, verifying credentials, issuing temporary passes, and ensuring only authorized personnel and vehicles gain access. This requires a sharp eye, a methodical approach, and the ability to react swiftly and appropriately to any breaches or suspicious activity. You will also be involved in patrolling designated areas, conducting random checks, and reporting any security incidents or concerns promptly.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough screening of passengers, carry-on luggage, and checked baggage using X-ray machines, walk-through metal detectors, and manual searches.
- Operate and interpret advanced screening equipment, including body scanners and explosive trace detection (ETD) devices.
- Verify identification and travel documents, ensuring only authorized individuals access secure areas.
- Control access points to restricted areas, including aircraft, airside, and baggage handling zones.
- Respond to and resolve security alarms and alerts in a timely and professional manner.
- Conduct patrols of designated areas, identifying and reporting any suspicious activities or security breaches.
- Enforce all aviation security regulations and company policies diligently.
- Provide clear and concise instructions and assistance to passengers, maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Complete detailed reports on incidents, security breaches, and daily activities.
- Collaborate effectively with airport authorities, airline personnel, and emergency services.
